BELLER Guide for Men

If you've just made one of the most important decisions in your life and are starting to look for an engagement ring, the first question you're probably asking yourself is: how much should it actually cost? This is completely natural. You want this moment to be special, but at the same time, you don't know what amount is "appropriate" - neither for your partner nor for yourself.

The good news is: there's no single right answer. However, there are some reasonable guidelines that will help you make a decision without feeling like you're guessing. We'll guide you through them calmly and concretely.

Forget the "three months' salary" rule

You've probably heard somewhere that it's "appropriate" to spend the equivalent of three months' salary on an engagement ring. It's worth knowing where this comes from: it's an advertising slogan invented by the jewelry industry in the mid-20th century. It's not a tradition or a norm - it's simply an effective marketing slogan.

The truth is that the right budget is one that is comfortable for you and adequate for your partner's expectations and style. Nothing more, nothing less. A man who starts a life together burdened by financial stress is doing no one any favors - least of all himself.

Realistic price ranges

To give you a concrete point of reference: premium engagement rings with certified diamonds most often fall within the range of PLN 8,000 to PLN 25,000. Designs with a larger center stone or custom-made pieces can reach higher amounts.

Where your ring lands within this range depends mainly on four things, which in the industry we call the 4Cs:

Carat - the larger the diamond, the higher the price, and it increases non-linearly: a stone twice as large can cost significantly more than twice as much.

Cut - often the most important parameter, because it determines how the ring "plays" with light. A good cut makes even a smaller stone look spectacular.

Color - from perfectly colorless to slightly warm shades.

Clarity - the number and visibility of internal inclusions.

Understanding the 4Cs is the best investment of your time before buying - this way you know exactly what you're paying for and can consciously decide where to spend more and where you can comfortably save.

Where to invest and where not to

From experience: if you have to save on something, do it on the stone's carat weight, not on the cut. A ring with a smaller but perfectly cut diamond will make a greater impression than a larger stone with an average cut. It's the cut that makes the ring "sparkle" the way your partner imagines it.

The second area where it's not worth saving is the certificate. A certified diamond is not only a guarantee of quality - it's a document you can show, and assurance that you're paying for real value, not a promise.

What truly matters

After hundreds of conversations with men exactly where you are now, I can say one thing: the amount is not what your partner will remember. She will remember the moment, how perfectly the ring matches her style, and that you hit the mark.

So instead of asking "how much do I have to spend," it's better to ask "what kind of ring truly suits her - and how can I best use the budget I have?" This question leads to much better decisions.

How we can help you choose

At BELLER boutiques - in Warsaw at ul. Mokotowska 71 and in Krakow at Hotel Stary at ul. Szczepańska 9 - we don't start the conversation with price. We start with you and your partner: her style, your story, what you want to express. Only then do we select a ring and budget so that they align.

If you don't know her size, don't know where to start, or just want to talk without obligation - we are here to guide you through it. Without pressure, without jargon, with a clear explanation of every decision.

Because this moment only happens once. And it deserves to be perfect.
